Successful library plant sale
Dear Editor:
The Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library held its bi-annual plant sale Saturday, June 3 and we raised just under $3,000.
Many people helped to make the sale a success and a lot of fun:
Thank you to the following:
-Nick Upham for making available to us two bays in the firehouse and allowing us to set up our plant sale out of the cold and rain.
-Plant sale volunteers who worked hard helping to set up/take down and assist customers during the sale in addition to donating wonderful plants from their gardens: Rita Arnold, BJ Dobson, Denise Friant, Karen Iliades, Jamie Morin, Vicki Reinecke.
-Folks with trucks who helped move plants and tables and helped with set up and take down: Howie Friant, Ron Ginger, John Lewis, Rob Lussier, Emily Friant.
-Sisters Karen and Jillian Higgins for providing lovely musical entertainment on violin and flute.
-Zachary Peters for taking the initiative to help out wherever needed during the sale along with his dad, Chris.
-Irene Barber, Ellen Knox and Jane Lunt from Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens for providing a lot of educational materials on native plants.
-Boothbay Region Clean Drinking Water Initiative for providing additional information on the benefits of planting native and how it helps our watershed. Everyone needs clean drinking water to live!
-Wayne Averill at Ames, Ben Stover at Conley’s, Topsham Home Depot, Brunswick Lowe’s and Walmart for donating soil for potting up all of our plants and starting seedlings.
-Boothbay Craft Brewery for donating 30 box trays with handles. We needed all of them!
And thank you to the too-many-to-list, fantastic local gardeners who took the time to dig up divisions from their gardens or start seedlings for the sale. And last but not least, thank you to all who came out to support the library and purchase plants. Happy gardening!
