Student Aid Fund seeks support for fund drive

The Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund annual fund drive is well underway. Graduation is only a few months’ away. We have set an ambitious goal of $250,000 for our annual fund and we also hope to add more named funds in our quest for increased levels of support for our graduates. To date we are over half-way toward that goal.

The Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund is quite a special charitable organization. It financially supports Boothbay Region High School graduates as they pursue post secondary education by awarding grants, not loans, based solely on need, for up to a total of six years of post high-school education.

As we know, the cost of higher education continues to increase dramatically but so does the commitment of the BRSAF. We are dedicated to our mission of assisting BRHS graduates to study in the fields of their choice at a community college, professional training institute, four-year institute or even graduate school.

Over the past seven years the Fund has given over $2,000,000 in grants, $1,100,000 in the last three years. Over 485 grants have been awarded. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the Boothbay Region community.

We are proud of our efforts but would like to increase the percentage of unmet financial need that we cover. This past year our 86 applicants had over $963,000 of unmet need. BRSAF was able to meet 39 percent of that need.

When you make a donation to the Student Aid Fund it is a wise investment in the Boothbay region, which helps to facilitate our students’ continuation of their education and building of careers. Supporting our students ultimately strengthens our community. For more information or to make a contribution visit us online at brsaf.org.
