‘The Story of the Pemaquid Mill’ lecture in Bristol Aug. 19

On Monday, Aug. 19 at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Jan Howell Memorial Lecture Series, The Friends of Colonial Pemaquid will host an evening program entitled, “The Story of the Pemaquid Mill.

Archeologist Dr. Neill dePaoli will present the lecture, which documents the history of the mill at Pemaquid Falls, a historic site recently acquired by local preservationist groups.  The presentation also incorporates information about the Robert Given home site adjacent to the mill.

The lecture, which is free to members, $5 for non-members, will be held at the Learning Center at Bristol’s Lighthouse Park.

Save the date for Sunday, Sept. 1 for the season’s annual closing event with a traditional outdoor performance of Celtic, nautical and early American music performed by Castlebay. The concert will be held at 1 and 3 p.m. on the grounds of Ft. William Henry. The rain date is Monday, Sept. 2.
