Considering the position you are running for, what do you feel are the three most pressing issues?

I feel this past year having a pandemic that resulted in remote learning for our students, we’ve learned many things for our future. I feel it is important there is the capability for our children to continue learning if our schools close again, due to another pandemic. Working on providing the tools, resources, internet, and capabilities for our teachers to continue teaching and our kids continue learning.

I feel infrastructure and maintenance to our schools is very important. An aging school will need updates and repairs. The declining enrollment is also very disturbing. I see families unable to afford to send their kids to private schools. I feel having the curriculum that is inviting for new families that may want to move or reside here is important. I think an advocate to the school system for curriculum who is knowledgeable in helping us understand what may bring new families and students to our schools maybe important and beneficial. Havng gifted and talented, arts/music and more trade programs I feel is very important. Technology with computers and social media have really been taking over, and I feel the trade programs, art, music/theater have become lost in many school systems and with that finding painters, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, etc. will be difficult.

Any other thoughts on why you are running or what you can bring to the office

I feel it is important with a daughter going into her freshman year of high school, I should be an advocate for her, her classmates and other students, to make sure that their future goals are met with the subjects our schools offer. I also feel it is important to know the teachers and communicate with them and understand their needs as well as their concerns. I want to be an advocate and problem solver for our students, their families and our teachers and staff. I  feel I can be a voice in doing so. I believe listening to all the above is important in making positive decisions to benefit our children and schools.
