St. Andrews Auxiliary awards $45,000 in medical related scholarships
Auxiliary Scholarship Chair Linda Redman reports that 11 students were able to further their education in various medical fields with scholarships to the tune of $45,000 this year. Recipients included four nursing students, a pre-chiropractic student, a family nurse practitioner, an occupational therapist, an athletic trainer, advanced degree nurses and a Tufts medical student.
Linda would like to remind everyone about one of our a very active Auxiliary members from our past – Fran Hale, who gifted St. Andrews Auxiliary $50,000 to support a named scholarship at the nursing school (Central Maine Community College- Lincoln Hospital Nursing School located in Damariscotta.)
Since Fran’s death in 2011, her generosity has lent support to two students per year receiving full Hale Scholarships. If you believe in the value of education for our medical students and have the means to start a named scholarship or to donate to our scholarship program, we urge you to think about a contribution to our St. Andrews Auxiliary Scholarship Program. Our address: St. Andrews Auxiliary, Suite J, 185 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
“Thank you to everyone who bought items at the St. Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop, donated items to our thrift shop and even better … who volunteered at the shop to make these scholarships possible. Thank you for all you do to make this program so vibrant and to serve so many aspiring students in the medical field,” Linda said.
