Special holidays cookbook display at Skidompha book shop

To help customers prepare for holiday meals, volunteers at the Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop have created a special display of cookbooks on the island in the shop’s middle room.

Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, said, “This year, the holidays will be different. We’ll all be trying to figure out how to celebrate and at the same time keep our families and friends safe from the spread of the coronavirus. Whether a gathering is large or small, in this time of uncertainty, good food, thoughtfully prepared, is more important than ever.

“Cookbooks also make welcome gifts,” she added.

The shop offers a wide variety of cookbooks, all donated, as are all items in the shop. Located at 17 Backstreet Landing in downtown Damariscotta and run entirely by volunteers, the book shop is a major fundraiser for Skidompha Public Library.

The shop is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations are accepted at the back door between 8 and 10 a.m. on those days. Strict safety protocols are in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
