Sow like it is spring

Mon, 04/08/2019 - 1:30pm

Gearing up for spring, the residents of St. Andrews’ Gregory Wing had a great time on Tuesday, April 2, updating their indoor window boxes.

To say it is still a bit chilly for outside work is an understatement, what with snow still randomly falling onto what we would all like to be spring plantings! So, next best thing is to plant indoors. To that end, two large window boxes were filled with soil under the guidance of the BRGC garden therapy team. Residents then dug holes with trowels or their hands into which plants were carefully placed with soil filled in around the roots to create two fresh gardens with five plants each. At least 10 residents, turned interested gardeners, participated in the activity. To round out the day, after clean up, small straw hats with ribbons and wild flowers were decorated by the women while the men created decorative ties – both items appropriate for hanging on door knobs or the wall to set the mood for spring and Easter.
