Southport Yacht Club
The weekend’s activities at SYC began with our annual Seguin Island Trophy Race held on Saturday. With six boats braving the light wind and strong tides, the race proved to be an exciting challenge for all participants.
Race Results:
- First Place: Rainer (J24), skillfully navigated by Rob Hawley and the Lorentzen family.
- Second Place: Open Rhodes (Rhodes 19), with a team comprised of Rachel and Nathan Phippen, Graydon Smith, and Morgan and Liam Donahue.
- Third Place: Gribble (Ensign 22), helmed by Pete, Cindy, and Jon Smith.
Congratulations to all the racers for their impressive performances under challenging conditions!
The SYC Annual Lobster Bake last Saturday night was huge success. Special thanks to Janet Duchaine who is our Social chair. We are so grateful for the team of volunteers who helped set up, made the tables beautiful, and baked the desserts. We also appreciate our partnership with Cozy’s Dockside. They catered the event and made it a meal we will all remember. Every morsel was delicious-from the lobster, chicken, hamburgers to the garlic and herb steamed mussels, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes and salad.
This week we are hosting the Maine State Opti Championships at the club. For our members, there will be limited parking in addition to the main float being utilized for both coach boats and volunteer patrol boats. We are asking for your patience if you are planning on using the SYC floats on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The waterfront will be full of excitement and there will be limited space.
