This week we had an exciting week at the Southport Yacht Club. We had many Beautiful Maine Days out on the water this week! We welcomed many new sailors to the morning class this week. These wonderful sailors jumped into Cozy Harbor and rushed to the kitchen for hot chocolate before their first-morning sailing! While we did not have a Friday Fun Day this week all the morning class kids watched their favorite instructors and afternoon class sailor in the Battle of the Bay regatta hosted by Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club on Wednesday!

On Aug. 9 and 10, we sent 13 420s and 16 Optis to the Battle of the Bay Regatta! The top place finisher for the 420s was Rachael Phippen and Skye Harrington, who came in third place overall. For Optis top place finishers, Graden Smith came in first overall, and Nate Phippen came in second overall! SYC ended up winning the Battle of the Bay, and we took home a broken oar that will live in the Junior building until next year!

On Thursday, we had our summer's final social event, a baked goods bingo. We had 82 fantastic bingo prizes. Thank you to all the families who donated and helped to make our bingo the best one yet! This week marks the end of our eight-week sailing program!

We have had an amazing summer filled with smiles and Beautiful Maine Days! We hope to see everyone again next year, and can’t wait to meet all the new faces in the program next year!
