There was a whole lot of giggling going on!

Southport Central School’s first talent show in over two years, due to the pandemic, on Thursday, June 2 at Southport Town Hall was fun for participants and the audience alike. The show featured singing, dancing, juggling, a magic trick, jokes and riddles, a puppet show and a drama entitled “Rindercella,” a comedic takeoff of the Cinderella story, narrated by Principal Lisa Clarke.

The show, produced by Meredith Fowlie, guidance and cultural studies teacher, featured 15 acts, including a medley of Armed Forces anthems and “God Bless the USA” sung by the 25 students to end the 80-minute show. The stage backdrop and theme of the show, “We’ve all got a lot to be thankful for,” was done by Eileen Higgins, administrative assistant and tech coordinator.

Before the start, Fowlie tried to ease any student’s stage fright by asking the audience to raise their hands to show the students if they had ever had stage fright. Most of the 50-plus people raised their hands. The request seemed to do the trick as all of the students scheduled took the stage and ... most of them giggled!
