A 'souptastic' Bowl Supper

The 17th Annual Rotary-Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts Bowl Supper on March 28 drew 180 people to the Legion Hall in Boothbay. The crowd had two hundred bowls to choose from.
Many of the bowls thrown by 12 artists were glazed by art students at Lincoln Academy or students in one of the potter's private classes. One of these bowls turned out to be quite coveted. See photo of Janna Parker Day and friend.
This year 23 soups, chowders, and stews, 12 salads and 18 desserts were served, donated by local businesses and Rotarians.
Raffle prizes included a dishware set and cup created and designed by artist Sean O'Connell, a drill, a decorative basket and numerous others, including all of the potted floral arrangements on the tables. Emcee Bill Bailey was assisted by five-year-old Mason Paquette of Boothbay when it came time to announce the drawn raffle ticket numbers.
Which leads to another fun story: the last table to dine was the table with the most prize wins, 14 in all, one by almost every person seated at the table. At some point as the winning streak continued, each time a number was called, attendees all looked over at the table waiting to hear the laughter and shouts of “that's me!” or “I've got it” coming from the group of ladies there.
According to Rotarian Jim Stormont, the ever-popular, fun, and tasty event netted around $1,500 to be split between the two organizations.
