Snow way!
Tue, 04/26/2016 - 4:15pm
Snow falling in Maine hardly passes for news but when the calendar is 4 days from May, it certainly qualifies as something. Despite a forecast calling for an inch or less, the Boothbay region was treated to an unwelcome winter guest as thick, heavy snow coated roads from Alna to Southport resulting in numerous reports of vehicles sliding off the roads and had public works crews swapping their street sweepers for shovels. According to the National Weather Service, snow in late April is uncommon but not without precedent: in May of 1945, 7 inches of snow fell in Portland. Despite the cries of no mas (or sno mas) the weekend looks sunny and seasonable.
