Smoke detector fundraiser Oct. 6
As we ease into colder months ahead, we enter a season of heating things up - many with wood stoves. Did you know that Maine has the highest percentage of homes heated with wood in the nation? It is frightening to know that so many of our neighbors here on the Boothbay peninsula do not have smoke/CO alarms installed in their homes, or they have ones that are old and unreliable. The cost of getting and installing the alarms are prohibitive to many families. Smoke alarms save lives, and reduce the chance of one of our local homes burning to the ground. We want to make sure that every family is protected.
Please join friends and neighbors on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Barters Island Community Hall, 24 West Side Road, Trevett to support the purchase of smoke detectors for local households. Your $40 donation grants you admission to two fun-filled hours of live music, great food and beverages, and most importantly, your donation will provide a life saving smoke detector, installed by the Fire Department, to a family in need on the Boothbay peninsula.
Space is limited, so reserve a ticket to attend.
