Skidompha Library to host James Beard award-winning chef

Sat, 07/21/2018 - 8:00am

Gabrielle Hamilton, James Beard Award-winning chef, author, and owner of the restaurant, Prune in New York City, will be a guest at Skipompha Library in Damariscotta on Aug. 3.

Summer is the season at Skidompha, as they host their 2018 Community Read. This summer-long series of events spans community-wide and everyone is invited to read and discuss a pre-selected book. This year's title, “Blood, Bones & Butter” brings food, community, and identity to the forefront of Skidompha’s programming. The library has thus far hosted wildly successful food-themed events including pasta making classes, read alouds of the book at Damariscotta-area restaurants, and screenings of the PBS Series “Mind of a Chef” featuring author Gabrielle Hamilton.

Skidompha is now busily preparing for their culminating event on Aug. 3.

“To host Gabrielle Hamilton in our little library is an incredible honor,” says Pam Gormley, executive director of Skidompha. “We are thrilled to open the floor to our excited readers – we know there will be some great discussions face-to-face with Gabrielle!”

Her talk will be followed by a reception in Skidompha’s Atrium where your Reception ticket gets you access to live jazz, craft cocktails, and local bites with Gabrielle.

If you would like to join for this very special evening, tickets are on sale now at Skidompha’s front desk, by phone (207-563-5513), or online at http://www.skidompha.org/an-evening-with-the-author/ Tickets are very limited; advance purchase is recommended. $35 for Author Talk $65 for Author Talk and Reception
