Shelter to hold “50/50” Summer Lovin’ adoption event
Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb will host a Summer Lovin' adoption event on Saturday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 pm. at the shelter on Atlantic Highway.
The event will feature raffles, giveaways, free lunch and, of course, plenty of adoptable animals. The adoption special is a “50-50” promotion, where dogs will be $50 off regular adoption fees and cats will be 50 percent off the standard fee to adopt. All animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.
The shelter has many animals for adoption, though shelter staff hopes to find homes for some of the long-term animals at the event, including Josie, a 4-year-old shepherd mix. She is “a very sweet and happy-go-lucky girl” according to animal care staff, and a very cuddly dog. She likes some contact with other dogs, but would prefer to be an only child at home, and if there are kids at home, she prefers the company of those ages 13 and older.
Simon is another long-term resident, a 3-year-old gray and white short haired tabby who charms everyone that enters the shelter lobby, and is described as a staff favorite and “a big lovable marshmallow” of a cat that loves chin scratches and is very affectionate. Simon should be the only kitty at home as an FIV+ cat. Though cats that test positive for FIV live long healthy lives, they have slightly weaker immune systems.
Photos and descriptions of adoptable animals are at lcasmaine.org and on the shelter’s Facebook page at facebook.com/LCASMaine.
