Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new office of Sheepscot Bay Physical Therapy on Thursday, April 15. The office is on the ground floor of Wiscasset Family Health at 35 Water St., Wiscasset.

“ I would like to welcome you back,” chamber president Chip Davison told owner Dr. Jean Beattie at the brief ceremony.

Beattie has been in practice 16 years and will continue to operate her second office at 1607 Atlantic Highway in Waldoboro. “I will be here on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons by appointment,” Beattie told the gathering. She said appointments can be made at 832-5544. Beattie is assisted by business manager Janie Miller and Physical Therapist’s Assistant Maureen Reed. Reed has been with the practice since 2009.

The practice accepts clients of all ages with a variety of physical needs from athletic injuries to post operative recoveries, with or without a doctor’s referral. “Most (clients) are 40 and over,” Beattie said.

The process normally involves collecting a personal physical history. “I look at the medical history. I come up with a treatment plan. It is important to do a lot of exercises,” she added. “We take all insurances.”

“It is a valuable service,” said Wiscasset Town Manager Dennis Simmons.
