The Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, in cooperation with Conley’s Garden Center and the Boothbay Region Greenhouses, will be holding a plant giveaway event on Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to noon (or until the plants run out.) It will be held in the church parking lot located at 125 Townsend Ave.

The objective is to give three plants per household to anyone in the community who wants to participate. The three plants will represent the summer months of June-August, to be planted as a symbol of hope for the town, the nation, and the world.

Event organizer, Richard Shepard says, “We want to reach out to the community in a time when hope is so desperately needed. The idea is while people care for and nurture their plants, they will think of ways to care for and nurture each other, as well as nurture and support the town during these difficult times. We would like for everyone to take pictures of their plants at their peak so we can put together a ‘Collage of Hope’ using all the pictures.”

The church parking lot will provide plenty of space for social distancing, but they’re asking for people to wear masks out of safety and respect for one another.
