‘A Sense of Time and Place: Four Seasons Maine’

    On view at Gallery One, on the second floor of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF), 1 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor, see Jean Kigel’s new oils and watercolors of Midcoast Maine. Show dates: Aug. 28 through Oct. 15.

    Her show, “A Sense of Time and Place: Four Seasons Maine,” depict spring flowers, summer waters, fall bounty , and winter peace.  Kigel’s watercolor florals, acclaimed by Carl Little, and her iconic lobsters will be highlights of the show. Also expect to see seasonal Asian brush paintings for which she is well-known. 

    A member of the Sumi-e Society of America and the Union of Maine Visual Artists, Kigel celebrated a sell-out, solo show in Manhattan in 2010; her work is exhibited in galleries throughout New England. And notably, her paintings have shown in the American Embassy in Amman, Jordan, and currently at the American Embassy Paris, France. 

    A reception with the artist will be held on Friday, Sept. 6 from 5-7 p.m. during the First Friday Art Tour. Gallery One is open 10 am. to 5 p.m. daily.
