Sen. Chloe Maxmin, D-Nobleboro, received a perfect score from the Maine AFL-CIO’s 2021 Legislative Scorecard for her voting record to promote fair wages, safe work environments and support working families. Sen. Maxmin was one of 18 senators to earn a perfect score. The Maine AFL-CIO scored twelve initiatives considered by the 130th Maine Legislature.

“Mainers are famously hardworking people who power our economy and make our state the place we love,” said Sen. Maxmin. “Mainers deserve safe workplaces, fair wages and the ability to provide for themselves and their families because of that hard work. I’m proud of all that my colleagues and I were able to accomplish in the Legislature this past session to honor working Mainers, and I’m grateful to the AFL-CIO and all its members for this recognition.”

This year, Sen. Maxmin cosponsored the Buy American and Build Maine Act, sponsored by Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, that would have supported American companies and Maine workers by giving preference to Maine-based businesses, workers and American manufacturing when the state awards procurement contracts. Sen. Maxmin also supported measures to increase access to affordable, energy-efficient housing and create good-paying construction jobs to build these units; to require the Legislature to consider racial impact statements alongside proposed legislation; to improve the unemployment insurance program; and to improve safety on publicly funded construction projects.
