Seahawks seal wins against Falcons, Bulldogs

Cougars deny BRHS victory

The Boothbay Region High School baseball team took an early lead in a May 17 game at Mountain Valley and did not let go. The Seahawks won 8-7, leaving them with a 3-6 record for the season.

The Seahawks scored three runs in the first inning, and neither team scored until the Falcons took one in the third. By the end of the fourth inning, BRHS was up 7-4.

Mountain Valley attempted to rally with two runs in the sixth, but it was not enough. Both teams scored a run in the final inning.

Leading the BRHS offense, Maddox Cusumano had three hits, two runs and four RBI. In addition, Gryffin Kristan had two hits and three runs, Finn Harkins scored two runs and two hits and Luke Morley had an RBI. The Seahawks had 12 hits.

Liam Jacobs, Harkins and Kristan were on the mound for BRHS. Kristan registered nine strikeouts. The Seahawks allowed four earned runs.

On May 12, BRHS shut out Hall-Dale 4-0. The Seahawks took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and doubled it by the fifth.

Aidric Canada led the offense with two runs and a hit. In addition, Harkins and Henry Putnum had a hit and a run each. Harkins had one RBI.

Kristan delivered eight strikeouts on the mound and Harkins had two. BRHS had no errors.

May 11, BRHS lost 7-6 at Dirigo. Dylan Plummer and Harkins each had a hit. Canada had two runs and Sam Markowitz, Harkins, Cusumano and Plummer each had one. In addition, Cusumano and Plummer each had an RBI.

Jacobs and Cusumano pitched for the Seahawks with four and one strikeouts, respectively.
