Seahawks girls soccer added another win on the season against Carrabec High School Sept. 21. The final score was 2-1.

The Seahawks started the game with four wins and three losses while the Cobras started with two wins, three losses and a tie.

Seahawks #8 Reagan Cola scored her team’s two goals on penalty kicks, one in each half of the game. Both were a result of great opportunities in the box, said Coach Matt Brewer who described the win overall as “gritty.”

“It was ... a true team win. We capitalized on the few chances we had … Our defense played extremely well and faced a lot of pressure throughout the game.”

Brewer said the team was anchored by Hannah Cola and Isabel Harkins and had big contributions from freshmen Kate Wickline and Journey Bennett.

“We probably played our best two games back to back, but we are going to have to play even better in the coming weeks,” said Brewer.

The next two games will pit the Seahawks against the number one and two teams in Class C South – Hall-Dale High and Lisbon high schools. The first of next week’s games will be at Hall-Dale on Sept. 26. The one against Lisbon is at home Sept. 28.
