Seahawks keep steady toward season's end
Two long-distance wins and a second-place dash highlighted the Seahawk indoor track team’s latest performance. Jan. 24, Boothbay Region High School competed in their penultimate meet of the regular season at Gorham.
Varsity boys results were: Chase Mansfield and Neal Baldwin placed 14th and 15th in the 55m dash in 8.51 and 9.02; Mansfield and Baldwin placed 15th and 16th in the 200m dash in 30.78 and 34.10; Colby Doucette placed seventh in the open 800m run in 2:58.51; Ross Gaffney and Nathan Percival placed 12th and 13th in the open one-mile run in 6:03.40 and 6:06.79; AJ Crocker and Gaffney placed first and sixth in the open two-mile run in 10:57.49 and 14:05.99; the relay team placed third in the open 4x800m relay in 10:43.99; and Logan Bourne, Baldwin and Mansfield placed eighth, 11th and 13th in shot put with 33-01.00, 29-11.75 and 22-07.50.
For the girls: Rose Campbell and Kora McKenney placed second and 19th in the 55m dash in 7.82 and 10.09; Campbell and Abbie Clark placed first and 10th in the 200m dash in 28.42 and 32.66; Karen Higgins won the one-mile run in 5:22.14; Clark placed sixth in the open long jump with 11-10.50; and Campbell placed seventh in shot put with 26-03.50.
The Seahawks’ final regular-season meet is scheduled for Jan. 31 at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
