Seahawks hold ground at Southern Maine Classic
The Boothbay Region High School cross-country team held its own Sept. 14 at the Southern Maine Classic in Gorham, competing in a pool of over 630 athletes from over 30 teams. The girls took the school’s lead, earning a 10th place team win with Karen Higgins in a top-five finish.
The girls team took 10th place out of the 27 teams. The Seahawks had a 22:51 average with 302 points. Freeport High won with a 20:24-minute average and 80 points.
The boys team took 23rd place with a 20:18-minute average and 586 points. Scarborough High School took first with 81 points and a 17:04-minute average. Overall, there were 31 boys teams.
Higgins led the Boothbay girls with a fifth-place finish in 19:20.59 minutes. Other results were Laura Chapman, 39th, 22:05.85; Olivia Rittall, 71st, 23:14.43; Maddie Orchard, 77th, 23:31.73; Maddie Andreasen, 142nd, 26:06.89; Sophia Mansfield, 166th, 27:00.17; Lexi Hughes, 213th, 29:41.91; and Annie Whitney, 230th, 31:37.87.
For the boys, AJ Crocker took 75th place in 18:54.25 minutes. Other results were Ethan Clark, 124th, 19:56.92; Cleyton Splaine, 125th, 19:58.10; Lysander Lefevre, 159th, 20:30.24; Alex Ross, 224th, 22:14.82; Thomas Hennessy, 252nd, 22:51.36; Jackson Zehm, 256th, 22:52.32; Ross Gaffney, 271st, 23:14.80; Ben Gapski, 293rd, 23:54.51; Chase Mansfield, 324th, 25:32.76; and Neal Baldwin, 375th, 34:16.63.
