‘Sea and Storm’ church service, picnic at Pemaquid Light Sept. 10
The Second Congregational Church, UCC in Newcastle will hold its end-of-season service at Pemaquid Lighthouse Park in Bristol on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m., rain or shine. Weather permitting, the service will be held outside beside the lighthouse, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or one to share. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend to join you. In the event of rain, the service will be held in the park's adjacent community center/museum. The Rev. Kim Hoare of The Carpenter’s Boat Shop will lead the service. The timely theme of the service will be "Sea and Storm"
Details about the music during the service were not finalized at press time, but it’s always awesome in such a magnificent setting!
An offering will be collected to support Hurricane Harvey relief at the Pemaquid service through the United Church of Christ's Disaster's Ministries Fund.
The worship service will be followed by a picnic. Burgers, hot dogs, and beverages will be provided by the church, and all those planning to stay for the meal are encouraged to bring a salad, side, or dessert to share. As with all the church’s activities all are welcomed and community-wide participation. For more information call 563-3379.
