Dear Editor:

My sincere congratulations to the East Boothbay Methodist Church scholarship committee for awarding to Alex Antoine a scholarship to attend York County Community College. This will allow him to fulfill his plans on finishing his studies to become a registered nurse. Actually, his is presently a certified nursing assistant at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.

Earlier this month, I was a patient at Miles Memorial and Alex was assigned to be my C.N.A. After chatting with this most amiable person, I learned he was from Boothbay and we became instant friends. After I learned he had joined the Boothbay Fire Department, I then told him that I was a former member myself, and Alex replied, “Maybe I took your place!”

His personal care for me and, I assume, as well for others on my floor, “was over the top!”

Again, thank you for making Alex’s dream come true.
