Scavenger Hunt fun at the Meadow Mall Business After Hours

Were you searching for Kermit the Frog yesterday in Boothbay Harbor Framers, or counting ships in the many paintings hanging at the Boothbay Region Community Center? Did Santa come up and take a photo with you using a selfie stick? If so, you were probably at the Business After Hours for the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce held Dec. 3 in the Meadow Mall.
Dozens of people gathered at Key Bank which hosted the reception for Business After Hours, picking up scavenger hunt sheets which took people from one store to the next. Searchers had to find something in each store, which varied widely. In the St. Andrews Thrift Shop, people had to find out how much was donated from the thrift shop last year. It could be found on a sign at the register, showing $81,885. In the hallway leading to Rick Gilde Massage, people could find Stacy Jenkins of HRS, which is overseen by Ellis Commercial, who could tell you how many square feet the Meadow Mall has (47,000). Over at Camden National Bank, you had to search for a Santa beanie hidden somewhere high up. It was perched near the ceiling in the office to the right of the front door, and only visible if you walked all the way in.
Santa (Tom Dewey of Harbor-Tech) and Mrs. Claus (Leisha J. MacDougall, Photo Lab Manager at Harbor-Tech) walked around in all the shops along with two helper elves played by Sierra Murray and Lovely Uberita. Santa used a selfie stick to take photos with people, which he gave away along with door prizes at the end of the event.
Once everyone had completed their scavenger hunt sheets, they returned to Key Bank to be entered into the door prize drawings and enjoy freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs. (Who says you can't grill in December?)
Each business that participated (Key Bank, St. Andrews Thrift Shop, The Harbor Theater, Harbor-Tech Solutions, Boothbay Harbor Framers, Massage Therapy with Rick Gilde, Ellis Commercial, The Community Center, and Camden National Bank) gave away door prizes. Prizes were also given away by Central Distributors, which provided wine, and the Boothbay Brewery, which provided beer.
“I hope this event lends itself to more joint Business After Hours,” Russell Brackett, owner of Harbor-Tech Solutions, said.
