Save the inn
Dear Editor:
It has been brought to my attention concerning a situation approved by the town of Boothbay.
Evidently, our town will allow Kenniston Hill Inn to be trashed (torn down). Isn't this important building on the National Register of Historic Places? If not, it certainly is an endangered species and should be restored and used for other purposes as it can never be replaced.
How can we sit idly by and allow this to happen? Kenniston Hill Inn is an important part of our landscape and should be readopted to other uses as there is plenty of land available for the proposed golfing site. The building should remain and would be valuable for functions, even to the golfing world. Maybe a club house? Perhaps a small inn or restaurant, or a conference center?
We need to keep this historic structure and keep Boothbay the special place it has always been instead of turning it into "any place."
Please reconsider this stately building which should be saved for another century. Remember, "Preservation is progress."
