Junior defender Samantha Carter, Boothbay Harbor, of the Becker College field hockey team has been voted the 2018 New England College Conference (NECC) Player of the Year in a vote by conference coaches as announced by the NECC on Tuesday. Carter is the daughter of Paulette and Mark Carter.

In addition, Becker freshman goalkeeper Victoria Pilpel of Germantown, Maryland was likewise voted Goalkeeper of the Year, while Becker head coach Meighan Allison was voted Coach of the Year by her peers. The Hawks therefore claim three of the top four major conference awards.

Carter and Pilpel anchored a defense that held opponents to a mere eight goals in conference play, with seven of those coming against top-seeded New England College. The Hawks thus claimed the second seed in the NECC Tournament.

Becker senior defender Alexis Barry (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
