Safe Passage Group to hold breakfast fundraiser Sept. 17
This Sunday, Sept. 17, the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor’s Safe Passage Group will be hosting a fundraiser breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the church. The breakfast will be by donation at the door, with all proceeds going to the group’s donation to the Guatemala organization Safe Passage. The Senior High Youth Group girls from the church are going on a volunteer trip to Safe Passage in Guatemala in October, and are raising money for their donation to Safe Passage.
The group will be spending a week in Guatemala City, volunteering as a support group for Safe Passage. Safe Passage empowers the poorest, at-risk children of families working in the community of the Guatemala City Garbage Dump, by creating opportunities and fostering dignity through the power of education. Safe Passage is a top-rated charity that has, since 1999, brought hope, education and opportunity to the children and families making their living around the city’s garbage dump – one of the largest landfills in Central America.
Come support this incredible group of students and their volunteer trip to support an incredible organization, and enjoy a hot, homemade breakfast at the same time.
