While only here for a day, it was hard to miss the Roald Amundsen off the coast of Boothbay Harbor. The almost 530-capacity cruise ship arrived Sept. 18 during an eight-day trip from Halifax to Boston.
Named after the first man to cross Antarctica and to reach the South Pole, MS Roald Amundsen is a hybrid powered cruise ship designed for polar conditions. Built in 2019, it weighs 20,889 tons and is almost 460 feet long and 78 feet wide. The ship is operated by Hurtigruten out of Norway.
