River Arts in Damariscotta invites artists to submit work for a juried show of abstract art. Deadline for submission is Saturday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. The gallery is pleased to announce that Ingrid Ellison will be the juror for the “Abstract” show. The show opens on Aug. 10 and will run through Sept. 11.
Ingrid Ellison is a painter and arts educator working in oil, mixed media and visual journals. Ingrid earned her MFA from American University and has exhibited at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Åarhus Gallery, the University of Maine Bangor, the Cynthia Winings Gallery and AVA Gallery and Center for the Arts and the Carver Hill Gallery. She has participated in residencies and workshops, notably at the Vermont Studio Center, Maine College of Art, and Castle Hill Center for the Arts. The “Abstract” show is open to all media. All work must be gallery ready and clean. Wall pieces should be wired securely with picture wire and screw eyes. No wet paint will be accepted. Artists may enter two pieces with a size limit of 26 inches (in any direction) including frame or one larger piece with a size limit of 48 inches (in any direction) including frame. There will be no exceptions allowed.
Works must be delivered in person. Please do not drop off work before Tuesday, July 27. The final deadline is Saturday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. Entry and membership forms are available in the gallery or may be downloaded from the website: www.riverartsme.org. For members the entry fee is $15 and for non-members it is $25.
All submitted works must be for sale and River Arts retains 35% commission on sold works. The accepted list will be emailed to all submitting artists by the afternoon of Wednesday, August 11. Unaccepted works should be picked up promptly.
