Richard P. Zollo

Dr. Richard Paul “Dick" Zollo, a former resident of the Boothbay region, died in San Francisco at the age of 91 on Dec. 18, 2017, after an extended illness.

Richard was born in Danvers, Massachusetts on Sept. 30, 1926 to Paul and Astrid Zollo, and received his EdD from Boston University.

Richard was married to Virginia Sherry (deceased) for 46 years. Richard worked as an English faculty member at Salem State College after teaching at Danvers and Masconomet high schools.

He authored and collaborated on numerous books and articles on local history, and was deeply involved with the Danvers Historical Society and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.

Richard is survived by his son Peter N. Zollo and his daughter-in law-Laurie, as well as many loved ones.

Donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Michael J. Fox Organization for Parkinson’s disease in lieu of flowers.
