Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan to lead All Saints services Aug. 8 and 15

Sun, 08/01/2021 - 8:30am

The Church of All Saints by-the-Sea is happy to announce that the Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan will return to the Southport Island chapel to lead services of Holy Communion for the next two weeks. Service times for the 2021 season are 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masks are not required for those fully vaccinated but are required inside the chapel for individuals who are not fully vaccinated. Singing of responses and hymns has returned to the 10:30 service. Pre-registration is no longer required.

The Rev. Paglinauan is associate rector for Community Engagement at The Church of the Redeemer http://www.redeemerbaltimore.org/ , a vibrant parish of 725 families and growing, in north Baltimore, where she has served since August 2010. In her current position, she oversees Redeemer’s engagement in Baltimore city through various community partnerships, including two elementary schools and several local non-profits. She also serves on the strategy team of BUILD, Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development, an organization committed to changing Baltimore for the better.

Prior to graduating from General Theological Seminary in June 2010 and becoming a priest, Cristina enjoyed a variety of work, learning and travel experiences, which included teaching and mentoring underserved and at-risk youth in Baltimore and Colorado; managing a genetics research lab in Boston; serving as a public health intern on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico; and leading a sailing-service trip bringing together Jewish-Christian-Muslim youth, in Israel. Cristina’s favorite way to spend time is being with her family: husband, David, a high school history teacher; their two children, Grace (20) and Ben (13), and Olmsted, their green-eyed, snow white cat. Cristina recently said that the entire family is looking forward to returning to our beautiful part of the world.

On Sunday, Aug. 8, worship will be enhanced by our resident organist Mr. Henry Lowe. On Aug. 15, we will be treated to the musicianship of Mr. Timothy Harrell, organist and choirmaster at Trinity Church in Solebury, Pennsylvania. The informal Tuesday morning chapel porch discussions will continue with Rev. Paglinauan leading a discussion on the weekly scriptures from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday mornings, Aug. 10 and 17.

All Saints by-the-Sea is on Southport Island on All Saints Road about two miles on the left driving south on Route 238/Cape Newagen Road. An Episcopal Church sign marks the side of the road. Parking is available along Route 238 or in a limited number of handicapped spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped lot to the chapel steps. You may also come to church by private boat and use the church dock. The beautiful, simple wood chapel is open for quiet prayer and meditation during the week.
