Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan at All Saints Aug. 4 and 11
All Saints by-the-Sea is pleased to welcome for the first time the Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan from Baltimore, Marylan to celebrate services of Holy Communion at 8 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 4 and 11. People of all faiths are invited to attend the services. A social hour with refreshments will follow the 10 a.m. services. At 9 a.m. on Tuesdays, Aug. 6 and 13, Rev. Paglinauan will lead a discussion group on the church porch.
Paglinauan is associate pastor for Community Engagement at the Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore, a vibrant parish of 725 families where she has served since 2010. In her current position, she oversees Redeemer’s engagement in the surrounding community including a neighborhood school and several non-profits including Paul’s Place Outreach, Habitat Chesapeake and Helping Up Mission. She also serves on a leadership team affiliated with the Metro-Industrial Area’s Foundation team committed to the broad mission of changing Baltimore for the better.
Prior to graduating from General Theological Seminary in June 2010, Cristina enjoyed a variety of work, learning and travel experiences. These included teaching and mentoring underserved and at-risk youth; providing care for Alzheimer’s patients; and managing a genetics research lab in Boston, Massachusetts. She also served as a public health intern on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico and led a sailing-service trip bringing together Jewish-Christian-Muslim youth in Israel. Her husband, Paul, who teaches ninth grade world history, and two children, Grace, 17, who is headed to college this fall and Ben, 10, starting middle school, will be joining her to enjoy their time together in Maine.
All Saints by-the-Sea is on Southport Island on All Saints Road about two miles on the left as you drive south on Route 238 (look for the Episcopal Church sign by the side of the road). Parking is available along Route 238, or if necessary, in the limited number of handicapped parking spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped lot to the church steps. You may also come to church by private boat or by the tour boat Novelty, tides permitting, which leaves Boothbay Harbor from Pier 8 at 9 a.m. Novelty picks up passengers from the church dock at 11:40 a.m. for return to Pier 8. The very beautiful and simple wood chapel is open for quiet prayer and meditation during the week.
