Rev. John Alden at Wilson Chapel July 21

    The Rev. John W. Alden will lead the service at Wilson Memorial Chapel on Ocean Point this Sunday, July 21. The service is at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome. Clarissa Brown will serve as organist.

    Pastor Alden of Topsham, Maine, has been a summer resident of Ocean Point for over 6o years. He is the son of Ray and Roberta Alden of Yarmouth, Maine, and grandson of Judge and Dorothy Marden of Waterville, Maine. Pastor Alden graduated from Springfield College with a BS in physical education and M.Ed. in adapted and corrective physical education. John also became certified as an athletic trainer. Later in life he obtained his M.Ed. in biblical counseling from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia. He spent 30 years in the field of athletic training and sports medicine serving at Union College, for New York Rangers Hockey Club of the NHL, and at Reddington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan, Maine.

    In August of 2012, the Lord called John into the ministry full-time. He joined Lisbon Falls Baptist Church in Lisbon Falls, Maine, after serving as a lay youth and adult Sunday school teacher, deacon (chairman), and elder. Pastor Alden’s role became that of co-pastor overseeing the biblical counseling ministry, widows care oversight, and hospital visitation. Since being ordained in October of 2013, Pastor Alden has officiated many weddings and funeral services.

    Pastor Alden served on the National Ski Patrol at Sunday River Ski Resort for 10 years and, while in college, was caretaker of the Ocean Point casino for one summer. He enjoys kayaking in the waters of Boothbay, bicycling, snowshoeing, racquetball, and photography. He married his wife, Cindy, at the Wilson Memorial Chapel 45 years ago. John and Cindy have two grown children and three grandsons.

    John is looking forward to sharing what the Lord has laid on his heart.
