Rev. Charles Carrick at Wilson Chapel, Ocean Point June 30
The Rev. Charles Carrick will lead the first service of the summer season at Wilson Memorial Chapel on Ocean Point this Sunday, June 30. The service is at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome. Clarissa Brown will serve as organist.
Rev. Carrick is a graduate of Drexel University (1984, BS computer science) and Yale Divinity School (1987, master of divinity). He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, having served churches in Pennsylvania for over 14 years. He served as the executive director of the Hazleton Enlarged Ministry, a cooperative ministry of 14 churches in the Greater Hazleton Area. In his last full-time appointment, Carrick served Conyngham, Pennsylvania, UMC for eight years.
Carrick is in his 21st year at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School (Kingston, Pennsylvania) serving as chaplain. He teaches AP Computer Science, Algebra II Honors, and STEM elective courses including Introduction to Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Submersibles, and Flight. Bible, World Religions, Moral Philosophy, Geometry, and Post-Apocalyptic Literature are some of the other courses that Carrick has taught. Soccer, snowboarding, skiing, and kayaking are sports passions.
Carrick and his wife, Jill Clay Carrick, have a home at Farnham Point. Jill serves as STEM associate director at Wyoming Seminary and teaches science and computer at the Lower School. The Carricks have a daughter, Grace, who will be entering Wyoming Seminary's 11th grade this fall (class of 2021). Their son, Jordan, is an aeronautical engineer at General Atomics in San Diego, California. Rev. Carrick officiated the wedding of Jordan and his wife, Shani, this past Sunday, June 23, in Boothbay Harbor.
