Responders resolve smell, light smoke call at Meadow Mall
First responders arrived on scene at Nathan’s Pharmacy in Boothbay Harbor Sept. 27 shortly after 5 p.m. for a call reporting light smoke and the smell of burning plastic.
According to Boothbay Harbor Fire Chief Nick Upham, crews found the cause was a malfunctioning furnace in a back room. He added that the issue was quickly resolved and a furnace technician needed to be called. He said they checked the scene, including the inside of the building, the roof, air handlers, and abutting businesses, and “everything was good.”
Boothbay Harbor Fire Department, Boothbay Fire Department, Edgecomb Fire Department, Southport Fire Department, Boothbay Harbor Police Department, and Boothbay Ambulance Service were on the scene. They finished around 6:15 p.m.
