Ramblers roll past Seahawks

The threes just kept falling for the Winthrop Ramblers as the visitors made 10 on the afternoon, helping them to an easy 72-16 win over the Boothbay Region Seahawks in Class C girls basketball at Porter Memorial Gymnasium Saturday, Dec. 9. It was the opening game of the season for both teams.

Leading the way for Winthrop was Kylee Mansir who hit six of those 3-pointers and finished with 29 points. Madeline Wagner added 16 points and Ella Rice had 12.

The Ramblers applied full-court pressure defense and jumped out to a 25-9 lead after eight minutes of play. They led at halftime, 38-13.

Tatum French scored six points and Bella Orr added five to lead Boothbay. Three of Orr’s points came on a half-court shot at the buzzer to end the first quarter.

The Seahawks will next host St. Dom’s on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 12 beginning at 3:30.
