The Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) has announced the date, time and location for this year’s Rally for Democracy. The event takes place rain or shine on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the American Legion in Damariscotta. Parking is available next door at the Central Lincoln County YMCA, at 525 Main St. Accessible spots at the Legion are reserved for those with special designation plates or placards.

The rally is a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) party for people to hang out, listen to music and a few speakers, meet Democratic candidates, and receive voter information. This family-friendly event will feature food trucks and vendors and fun activities for adults and kids like rock painting, cornhole, and a bounce house.

The event is free and open to the public. Food and drink will be sold directly by the individual vendors. The bar will take cash only. Food donations will also be collected to benefit a local pantry as part of an ongoing effort for the organization.

Local favorites 32 North will be the house band for the event. Between sets, others will take the stage to help the organization kickoff GOTV activities that build up to Election Day on Nov. 8. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer jobs to help Democratic candidates to victory.

32 North is American string music, made in Maine. Named for the highway that runs from the band's birthplace in Round Pond, Maine, the boys bring road-tested favorites — bluegrass, blues, C&W, Grateful Dead, fiddle music and original tunes — to public and private venues around the Midcoast. Spirited, polished and seasoned, 32 North warmly offers a high-quality musical experience to listeners and dancers alike.

32 North is Frank Bedell of Wiscasset, Gary McCue of Warren, John Monterisi of Nobleboro (seasonal) and Logan Sampson of Warren.

“Throughout my long life I have taken great pride in exercising my American rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In recent years, however, I have sensed a shadow creeping over them," shared McCue.

"Voting for our Democratic candidates is the only way to assure that individual freedoms remain illuminated in the fore for each and every American to see and access. That's why I'm excited to take part in Lincoln County's Get Out The Vote event.”
