'Pursuing And Writing' Boothbay history
Barbara Rumsey, the curator and local historian of the Boothbay Region Historical Society, will speak on “Pursuing Local History And Writing About It,” at the society museum, at 72 Oak St., in Boothbay Harbor. Her talk will be given on Friday, Feb. 15, from noon to 1 p.m., when she will be the guest of the BRHS's brown-bag lunch forum.
Rumsey is well-known in the area for her excellent books and popular newspaper columns on local history. Her help, insight, and advice to many who are pursuing some elusive historical information about their own families, houses, vessels, or important events, is well-known. She has also recently stepped away from being the museum director of the BRHS in order to spend more time on Boothbay area history and the research and writing involved in it.
The popular lunch hour brown-bag forum at which Rumsey is speaking is noted for the brief presentations of its speakers, and especially for the often energetic and congenial questions and discussion which follow. In the informal setting of this forum, those who attend are seated around the speaker and eat their brown bag lunch as the presentation and conversation proceeds. So bring a sandwich and beverage and join this interesting hour.
