Presentations made at final Legion breakfast of the year
American Legion Post 36 in Boothbay held its final public breakfast of the year on Sunday, Nov. 20 and there was a good turnout of people, who saw and heard three presentations.
Post Commander David Patch commended the 13 members of the Boothbay Fire Department who enjoyed the buffet breakfast together. The members received a hardy round of applause after Patch praised their work, especially with the fires that have occurred this fall.
The second presentation was done by the Kwilts 4 Kidz group. Five members of the group held up a beautiful handmade American Flag quilt, while member Sue Burge gave some brief history of the 12-year-old organization, which has made and provided quilts and other items for people in need and for comfort.
“We would like to present this quilt to American Legion Post 36 and Commander David Patch in honor of all our area veterans,” said Burge. Patch thanked the group for its gift.
Patch then read and presented a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative coin from the state of Maine to Vietnam War veteran William “Bill” Hunt.
