On behalf of the Boothbay Region Meals on Wheels Board of Directors, our volunteers and the staff at St. Andrews Village, I would like to thank the Register and your most capable correspondent Jane Carpenter for the article in the Aug. 8th edition describing out mission and hopes for the future.

We are pleased to report that we have welcomed many new volunteer drivers to our team thanks to your coverage.

We are now hoping that members of our community will also consider some financial support to help us continue to provide for our recipients who cannot afford the modest cost of the meals we deliver. As our organization is not part of the federally-funded Meals on Wheels program, we depend on the support of our friends here in the three towns we serve on the peninsula.
