A plug for Togus
Dear Editor:
With the Veterans Administration catching it from all directions, I wanted to tell my short story about the favorable treatment that I have received from this group over the past 15 years.
After a plane crash during active duty in the Navy left me with a major service connected disability, I began using the facilities at the Togus VA 15 years ago. I have averaged a meeting with various doctors there about once every 90 days for a total of about 60 appointments to date.
The VA has provided me with eyeglasses, drugs, prosthesis for a bad leg — all items related to the aircraft mishap. Not once have I felt that I was less than an honored veteran fully deserving of the care that I was receiving.
There may be difficulties with the VA elsewhere, but, based on my experience, the facility at Togus, while a bit old, has excellent people eager to service the U.S. veteran in a timely manner.
