Pleasant surprises await you

Sharing barely a peek in this photo, this home, one of six on the Boothbay Region House and Garden Tour set for July 19, sits high atop Boothbay Harbor and will surprise and delight any and all visitors to its door. Thirty-two fruit trees, perennial gardens, seasonal flowers and herbs, and veggies in raised beds greet you as you approach this 1890s era yellow Victorian house and its surrounding grounds. Once situated on 20 acres in the heart of the harbor community, this property is now four acres in total, and also home to a popular inn boasting not only harbor views but lovely walkable gardens. The gardens provide fresh edibles that are incorporated daily into the artfully created breakfasts served at the inn.

The owners take great pride in being an integral part of the community and actually offer their exquisitely presented breakfast to the public to enjoy in their beautiful and relaxing setting for a $35 donation that directly benefits the Boothbay Region Food Pantry.

Come for the House and Garden Tour and return for a night or two in one of the beautifully appointed rooms at the inn and a breakfast that might include edible blossoms, a fresh and spicy habanero sauce or fried green tomatoes – or just book a date for breakfast and enjoy the fresh flavors of the season while taking in the early morning views from the highest point in the harbor.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased in person from the Boothbay Harbor Chamber of Commerce located at 192 Townsend Ave, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 or directly from Irene Gerny (633-5052) or Pat McMurry (633-7405). Tickets are $30 prepaid and $35 the day of the tour. Only cash or checks will be accepted for payment.
