Planning board approves Botanical Gardens’ stormwater monitoring plan
On May 17, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ stormwater monitoring plan received planning board approval, according to acting Code Enforcement Officer Dan Bryer. The Gardens received a conditional building permit in December for its $30 million-plus expansion plan. The conditional approval required a plan for monitoring contaminates in the surrounding stormwater runoff. Last month, the Gardens submitted a plan, but it was tabled.
After review, the board voted 3-0 to accept CMBG’s proposal. The plan requires CMBG officials to submit water samples for analysis. A report would be generated and made available to town officials, but some data would be summarized at times, according to CMBG’s consultant Jan Wiegman.
In other action, an applicant’s request to place a public restroom on Common Drive was approved. PGC5 resubmitted deeds showing properties on 9 and 13 Common Drive as a single lot. At a previous meeting, the board requested deeds showing the two lots as a single one. Attorney Suzanne Lowell of Bernstein Shur represented the applicant and presented deeds and maps showing compliance with the board’s request.
The board will meet next at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21 in the municipal room.
