"My pick? Houston in six games."

 

I have been a most faithful reader of our dearly beloved Boothbay Register's editor's folksy words of wisdom for aeons! But after reading his Oct. 26 prediction for Houston winning over my Philadelphia Phillies, I could not imagine in my wildest dreams what precipitated such a treasonous statement!

 

Here he is a true Mainah going for TFA (Team From Away-Texas - not to be confused with PFAs) instead of staying with an East Coast team.. I was so incensed that I marched into his office without first getting an appointment to enlighten him of his grievous mistake by not picking the Phillies! This current Phillies team is the rebirth of the the Philadelphia Wiz Kids from my day.

 

All he had to say was "pitching!"

 

It hurts to admit it, but he was right not only about the pitching part but also "in six games!" I greatly under estimated Mr. Burnham's sports knowledge. He does his homework and then as the late Howard Cosell would say, "tell it like it is!" Our editor is certainly an All Pro Hall of Fame Sportscaster/Predictor! So now I must man-up and sincerely, deeply apologize to my long time buddy, Kevin, for my indiscretions. Go Phillies 2023!
