Open house for digital literacy group’s new office at LCRPC

Mon, 09/30/2019 - 6:30pm
Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission is now home to the National Digital Equity Center's southern Maine hub. In July, we welcomed Marita Fairfield, program director, who many of you may know from her work as a business counselor with CEI. She'll soon be joined (often virtually) by more staff and educators.

The Wiscasset Chamber, the NDEC, and we are inviting you to an open house and Business After Hours this Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at our office.

What exactly is NDEC?? The National Digital Equity Center (NDEC) and its Maine Digital Inclusion Initiative program was founded by Susan Corbett, a well-known broadband/digital inclusion leader based in Machias.

NDEC is committed to closing the digital divide in Maine. In addition to advocating for affordable broadband, affordable equipment and public computer access, the Maine Digital Inclusion Initiative is focused on creating digitally literacy citizens across Maine, providing communities with the expertise to mobilize broadband technologies through digital inclusion and literacy efforts.

Short story: the Wiscasset office will be listening and learning from community leaders, businesses, and residents about your needs for education and training. NDEC will be offering free classes throughout our communities in libraries, with Adult Ed, with senior groups, business groups, etc.

Come this Wednesday, meet Marita and colleagues, and help shape what happens to close the divide in your town.

Head to this NDEC page to register for this free and informative open house.
