Open house at Boothbay Harbor museum Dec. 1

Sun, 11/25/2018 - 7:00am

The Boothbay Region Historical Society museum, located at 72 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor, will hold an open house between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, during the Harbor Lights Festival.

Stop in for refreshments and to see the latest exhibit, featuring uniforms worn by community members involved in early- to mid-1900s local activities. Included are Harry Pinkham’s Boothbay Region Band uniform from the 1940s, Olive McKay Wright’s 1930s cape from St. Andrews Hospital's nursing school, and a circa 1920 Knights of Pythias uniform worn by Charles T. Orne of West Boothbay Harbor. These items will be on display until next spring.

The recent exhibit on the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I, will also still be up, including Raymond Pennoyer's army uniform worn in France and documents about Harriet Delamere's service as a nurse in France during that war.

Stop in for good cheer, congenial company, a variety of cookies and holiday sweets, and seasonal beverages. You'll get a warm welcome!
