Heartwood Regional Theater Company will hold open auditions for their 2018-2019 season, on Sept. 8 from 2-4 p.m. at the Poe Theater, Lincoln Academy — first come, first served. Check in will be in the band room, on the lower level of the Poe. Video submissions are due by Sept. 16. Casting is expected to extend into the fall, as the production team carefully casts all ensemble members.

The new season will provide many varied opportunities for actors, dancers and musicians. Roles are open for actors of many ages, types and experience levels, and Heartwood will work with both local and professional actors, depending on the role. First-time performers and those returning to the stage are all encouraged to attend.

Productions in Heartwood's 16th season include: “Man of La Mancha” (Oct/Nov 2018) – already cast and in production, in collaboration with Lincoln Academy; “Life is a Dream” (summer 2019), by Spanish playwright Pedro Calderon de la Barca; the Broadway musical “Big River: The Adventures of Huck Finn” by Roger Miller and William Hauptman (summer 2019); and a staged reading of the Greek tragedy “Medea” (May, 2019).

Auditions for the middle school production of “The Snow Maiden” (Jan/Feb 2019) will be held Dec. 3 and are open to all Midcoast students grades 3-8.
