Online Boothbay Region Fisheries Collection

Professional archivists from the Penobscot Marine Museum (PMM), Kevin Johnson and Matt Wheeler, were at the Boothbay Region Historical Society (BRHS) on Nov. 16, to begin work on a new online photo collection, “The Boothbay Region Fisheries Collection.”

The collection will feature photos from the Historical Society as well as from community donors. Each photo will be catalogued, edited, and it’s details will be recorded. The collection will be online at the Penobscot Marine Museum website as well as the Boothbay Region Historical Society and the Boothbay Region Maritime Foundation sites sometime next spring.

PMM has an extensive digital collection available free for public viewing and includes photos from Atlantic Fisherman, National Fisherman, and marine photographer Everett L. “Red” Boutilier. High resolution photo prints are available for purchase. This ongoing project was initiated by the Boothbay Region Maritime Foundation and is a collaboration with PMM and BRHS. It is an opportunity for people from the Boothbay region to work together to build a photo collection that represents their fishing heritage.
